Redefining success

It is quite interesting that the way we measure how "well" our countries and civilisation are doing is through economic growth, employment rate and GDP.

Yet none of those are truly a measure of progress, well-being, wellness and happiness.

In fact some wise analysis reveal that our actual economic growth is destroying our environment, creating social injustice, and increasing the level of precarity in our communities.

Indicators are also showing a rise in precarity, mental illnesses, obesity, hunger, alcoholism, drug use and suicide rates (especially amongst adolescents).

We stay obsess with jobs "creation" but more jobs at low wages does not create progress or lift anyone out of poverty and isolation. Anyone can create 1000 jobs by paying people $5/hour. This is not job creation, it is poverty and enslavement institutionalize.

What we need to look at are the true measure of progress. Educated individuals. Happy individuals. Healthy individuals. Fullfilled individuals. Caring individuals. Compassionate individuals. Loving individuals. Strong, resilient and harmonious communities. Only by doing so will we create a healthy, happy, caring, compassionate and loving world. Communities. Families. World.

We need to stop praising the "successful" people based on mainly the size of their companies or personal wealth. We need to look at their success in truly uplifting others out of poverty, giving them enough to pay for good education, have access to health care, and…
